What Makes NHD Professional Carrom Strikers Different?
NHD Professional Carrom Strikers are not designed as decorative moulded accessories. They are engineered as precision playing equipment intended for stable, predictable, and long-term gameplay performance.
The difference primarily comes from:
- Material density and hardness
- Dimensional consistency
- Uniform weight distribution
- Surface finishing quality
- Structural durability
Unlike ordinary lightweight moulded strikers that may vary in balance, rebound, and wear resistance, high-density phenolic-resin strikers maintain more stable playing characteristics over extended use.
This difference becomes especially noticeable during controlled shots, rebound consistency, directional accuracy, and long-duration gameplay.
🎯 Precision Control
The striker responds accurately to finger release, allowing controlled direction, stable movement, and consistent speed during competitive play.
⚖️ Perfect Balance
Uniform weight distribution helps the striker travel straight without wobble, side drift, or unintended curve during release.
➝➝ Low Friction
The ultra-smooth low-friction surface allows clean glide with minimal drag for smooth and predictable board movement.
🟫 Board Safe
Despite its high hardness, the striker glides smoothly without scratching or damaging the carrom board surface.
🛡️ Wear & Scratch Resistant
The high-density phenolic resin surface resists wear and scratches, maintaining smoothness and consistency over long-term use.
💥 Extreme Durability
Built for repeated high-impact shots, the striker resists cracking, chipping, and deformation during regular competitive play.

Product Quality, Material & Performance
Why choose NHD Professional Carrom Strikers?
NHD Professional Carrom Strikers are engineered for players who prioritize consistency, balance stability, smooth glide, and long-term gameplay reliability.
Each striker is manufactured using high-performing high-density Phenolic Resin — a premium-grade material category widely trusted in professional cue sports for its hardness, dimensional stability, impact resistance, and precision behaviour.
Compared to ordinary moulded or low-density strikers, NHD Professional Strikers provide:
- More consistent weight distribution
- Controlled rebound characteristics
- Stable directional movement
- Superior surface durability
- Long-lasting smoothness and structural integrity
All Professional Series strikers are manufactured with uniform specifications, ensuring identical professional playing characteristics regardless of colour or design variation.
Why do experienced players prefer high-density professional strikers?
Experienced players generally prioritize gameplay consistency, rebound control, directional stability, and long-term reliability over decorative appearance alone.
High-density professional strikers provide:
- More stable movement
- Better balance consistency
- Controlled rebound response
- Longer-lasting smoothness
- Improved structural durability
- More predictable gameplay behaviour
These differences become increasingly noticeable during competitive play, controlled shots, and long-duration gameplay sessions.
Do you offer any material better than this?
As of today, based on our knowledge and experience, there is no better material available for professional carrom strikers than this high-quality, premium billiard-ball-grade material.
This category of material is globally trusted in professional cue sports because of its:
- Exceptional hardness and density
- Superior balance stability
- Extremely low wear rate
- Long-term dimensional consistency
- Controlled rebound characteristics
- Smooth polished surface quality
- High impact resistance
Ordinary moulded plastic, acrylic, ceramic, Bakelite, resin-filled, or printed strikers may look attractive visually, but they cannot match the long-term structural stability, durability, smoothness, and professional consistency provided by high-density billiards-grade phenolic resin.
This is why professional players and experienced users immediately recognize the difference in feel, balance, rebound behaviour, and durability during actual gameplay.
Will this striker work on all types of carrom boards?
Yes.
The precision-finished surface and balanced weight allow smooth and controlled gameplay on both traditional wooden boards and modern synthetic carrom boards.
Can I use this striker with carrom powder?
Absolutely.
The ultra-smooth low-friction surface is fully compatible with carrom powder and helps maintain smooth, controlled, and consistent gameplay.
Professional Standards, Dimensions & Surface Finish
Is this striker suitable for professional tournaments?
Yes.
NHD Professional Carrom Strikers are manufactured according to commonly accepted professional-size standards used in competitive and tournament-level gameplay.
Tournament suitability depends on the diameter and weight selected. Players should always verify tournament rules before participation.
What are the dimensions and weight of the standard professional striker?
Standard NHD Professional Carrom Striker specifications:
- Diameter: Up to 41.3 mm
- Thickness: Approx. 7 mm (±0.3 mm)
- Weight: Approx. 15 grams
These specifications remain consistent across all standard professional-size strikers regardless of design or colour.
What is considered a professional-size carrom striker?
A professional-size carrom striker generally:
- Has a diameter of approximately 41 mm, not exceeding 41.3 mm.
- Weighs approximately 15 grams, not exceeding 15 grams.
These dimensions are commonly used in competitive and tournament-level play.
Why is the top surface glossy while the bottom surface has a different finish?
NHD Professional Carrom Strikers are finished differently on different surfaces to balance appearance and gameplay performance.
The top and side surfaces are polished to achieve:
• Premium appearance
• Better scratch resistance
• Easy cleaning
• Long-lasting visual finish
The bottom surface, however, is optimized primarily for gameplay.
Through practical testing and player feedback, we found that excessive buffing on the playing surface may sometimes reduce free movement on certain boards.
For this reason, the bottom surface is carefully finished to provide:
• Smooth glide
• Consistent control
• Reliable movement
• Professional playing feel
The goal is maximum playing performance rather than maximum shine.
Why doesn’t the bottom surface look mirror-polished?
Many players expect the bottom surface to have the same mirror-like appearance as the top surface.
However, visual gloss and playing performance are not always the same thing.
The bottom surface of NHD Professional Carrom Strikers is intentionally finished for smooth gameplay rather than decorative appearance.
As a result:
• The surface may appear less glossy than the top side
• The striker remains fully play-ready
• No additional polishing is required before use
This finish is intentional and helps maintain the smooth, controlled movement preferred by many experienced players.
Why does the professional carrom striker sometimes show ultra-fine marks under light reflection? Are these defects?
No.
Ultra-fine marks/ scratches visible only under certain light reflections are normal on professionally polished high-density phenolic resin strikers and are not defects.
These marks typically become visible only when the glossy surface is viewed very closely under direct light or reflective angles. During normal gameplay, they are generally not noticeable.
This behaviour is common in genuine solid phenolic-resin strikers manufactured from billiards-grade material because:
- The material itself is extremely hard, dense, and wear-resistant
- Even ultra-fine multi-stage sanding and precision polishing may leave microscopic reflection patterns on such hard surfaces
- These marks exist only at reflection level and do not create actual surface roughness
In fact, many experienced players recognize these fine reflection marks as an indication that the striker is made from genuine high-density solid material rather than ordinary moulded plastic.
Ordinary moulded or soft-material strikers may sometimes appear visually flawless after light polishing because their softer surfaces wear and smooth very easily. However, such materials generally lack the hardness, balance stability, durability, and long-term professional performance of high-density phenolic resin.
Most importantly:
- These marks do not affect smoothness
- They do not affect glide
- They do not affect balance
- They do not affect rebound
- They do not affect gameplay performance in any way
Durability, Impact Resistance & Long-Term Use
Will the striker break if it falls accidentally?
Under normal usage conditions, NHD Professional Carrom Strikers are highly resistant to cracking, chipping, and structural damage caused by accidental drops or regular gameplay impact.
The high-density phenolic resin used in manufacturing provides significantly greater impact resistance and structural stability compared to ordinary moulded plastic, acrylic, ceramic, or low-density strikers.
This durability is an inherent property of the material itself and does not require special handling during normal use.
Can you make carrom striker similar to ordinary/ regular printed strikers?
NHD specializes primarily in professional-grade high-density phenolic resin carrom strikers engineered for precision gameplay, durability, and long-term structural stability.
Many ordinary strikers use lightweight moulded plastic, acrylic, epoxy resin, ceramic powder with surface printing primarily focused on decorative appearance. While visually attractive, such products may experience:
- Surface print wear
- Corner chipping
- Cracking after impact
- Inconsistent weight distribution
- Reduced structural durability
NHD Professional Strikers are fundamentally different in both material quality and manufacturing approach.
Designs are engraved or permanently integrated into the material itself rather than applied as temporary surface printing. The striker is engineered to maintain its balance, smoothness, appearance, and playing characteristics over long-term use.
If you share a reference image, we can evaluate whether a similar concept can be adapted within our professional manufacturing standards.
Does weather or temperature affect striker performance?
No.
The striker material itself remains stable under normal heat, cold, humidity, and seasonal changes.
However, glide speed may vary depending on:
- Board surface condition
- Carrom powder quality
- Board polish and cleanliness
In most cases, board condition affects gameplay more than weather.
Gameplay Behaviour, Grip & Control
What colour and design options are available?
NHD Professional Carrom Strikers come in 7 colors with thousands of designs and hundreds of patterns, ensuring a perfect match for every player’s style. Whether you prefer classic, floral, circular, abstract, or bold designs, our strikers combine aesthetics with top performance, allowing you to showcase your style while playing at your best.
I want better grip. Will this striker slip from my finger?
Grip preference varies naturally between players and depends on individual playing style, release technique, finger pressure, and surface preference.
Some players prefer engraved or textured top surfaces for additional tactile feedback, while others prefer ultra-smooth surfaces for faster and freer release movement.
For this reason, grip perception is considered a personal playing preference rather than a fixed product characteristic.
Why do some players experience slipping while others don’t?
Grip perception depends on several individual factors including:
- Finger pressure
- Nail length
- Release technique
- Playing habits
- Top-surface design preference
Because of these variables, the same striker may feel different to different players.
Does engraved top design affect striker performance?
No.
All engravings and surface designs are applied symmetrically to preserve balance consistency, directional stability, and rebound behaviour.
The design primarily affects visual appearance and tactile feel preference. It does not alter the striker’s structural balance or professional playing characteristics.

The striker is delivered play-ready with a factory-finished polished surface.
Can I polish the striker for extra smoothness?
Yes.
Your NHD Professional Carrom Striker is delivered with a super-smooth, play-ready factory finish and does not require any polishing before use.
However, some players personally prefer an even smoother glide. If you wish to further refine the surface feel, you may follow the optional polishing process below.
Optional Polishing Method
- Take an Emery Polishing Paper – III Grade – 6/0.
- Place the polishing paper on a perfectly flat surface such as glass, acrylic sheet, or ceramic tile.
- Lightly sprinkle a small amount of carrom powder on the polishing paper.
- Gently rub the striker on the paper in the shape of the English number “8” approximately 25–30 times.
- Check the glide and smoothness.
- If you prefer additional smoothness, repeat the process gradually until the desired feel is achieved.
Important Notes
• Use only light pressure while polishing.
• Always keep the polishing paper on a flat surface.
• Do not use water or liquid soap on polishing paper.
• Excessive polishing is generally unnecessary.
Note: All NHD Professional Carrom Strikers are factory-finished and ready for immediate gameplay. This process is completely optional and intended only for players who prefer additional smoothness.
Does my new striker require polishing before use?
No.
Every NHD Professional Carrom Striker is delivered in play-ready condition and can be used immediately after delivery.
No sanding, polishing, buffing, waxing, or surface preparation is required before first use.
Additional polishing is completely optional and should only be done if a player personally prefers a different surface feel.
What if the striker surface becomes less smooth over time?
NHD Professional Carrom Strikers are factory-finished using a multi-stage precision polishing process and normally remain smooth for a long time during regular gameplay.
However, in rare cases, slight surface roughness may develop due to:
• Low-quality carrom powder
• Rough board surfaces
• Dirt accumulation
• Long-term heavy use
If this occurs, the striker can be restored to near-original smoothness by following the process below.
Important Setup (Do Not Skip)
Always place the sandpaper or polishing paper on a perfectly flat surface such as:
• Glass sheet
• Acrylic sheet
• Ceramic tile
Never hold the paper in your hand while sanding or polishing.
Step 1 – Wet Surface Restoration
Start with 400-grit sandpaper.
Apply:
• 5–10 ml clean water
• 3–5 drops liquid soap
Using light pressure, rub the striker evenly over the paper.
Continue with progressively finer grits using the same method:
400 → 600 →800 →1000 → 1200 → 1500 → 2000 → 2500
Step 2 – Final Polishing
After completing the sanding sequence:
- Take Emery Polishing Paper – III Grade – 6/0.
- Place it on a perfectly flat surface.
- Sprinkle a small amount of carrom powder.
- Rub the striker gently in the shape of the English number “8” approximately 25–30 times.
Important Care Notes
⚠ Do not use coarse sandpapers such as 60, 80, 100, 120, 150, 180,220, or 320 grit.
⚠ Always use water and liquid soap together during wet sanding.
⚠ Never use water or liquid soap on polishing paper.
⚠ Minor hairline polishing marks are normal and do not affect gameplay performance.
Result
After following this process, the striker will regain its smooth glide, professional playing feel, and consistent gameplay characteristics.
Note: This restoration process is only required in rare situations. Under normal conditions, routine cleaning with water and a soft cloth is sufficient. In rare cases, surface roughness may occur due to:
- Low-quality carrom powder
- Rough board surfaces
- Improper maintenance
The striker can be restored using sequential wet sanding (400>600>800>1000>1200>1500>2000>2500>) followed by final polishing on a perfectly flat surface.
